Santa Cruz is the most heavily populated island in the Galapagos with a population of 15,000. In an effort to control the population and protect wildlife the government passed a law in 1998 banning ANYONE from moving to the islands. We are staying in Hotel Silbertein, a German owned hotel with cabana-like rooms.
