Our Day in Quito with Diego

I met Diego del Corral at a National Foreign Language convention in San Antonio last November. He had a booth in the exibit hall representing the language academy. I was wearing a jacket from Peru which caught his attention and we began to speak about my interest in language study and Cusco, Peru. It turns it that I had taken a photo of the Peruvian branch of his language academy and had posted it on my website a year earlier. Small world. From that chance meeting he and I have arranged the study abroad that I will lead this December. Because he lives in lives in Quito he offered to give Teresa and I a tour while we were in town. We began with a tour of the beautiful academy. He then guided us through an amazing art museum, and invited us to eat lunch with he and his family in their home. We met his beautiful wife Gabby and their children Diego and Victoria. We enjoyed a traditional ecuadorian lunch complete with soup, ham, empanadas, cucumber salad, potatoes and 2 kinds of fruit juices. For dessert we had ice cream, taxo (a passion fruit) and cookies. We thoroughly appreciated Diego and his family's wonderful hospitality.
